My goal has never been to sell tons of books or to win accolades.
I want to encourage others who are going through disease, suspended between this world and the next.
I’ve read about people finding their “tribe,” the place where they belong. Since I started this journey with cancer, my “tribe” has become others with shared experiences. Together, we can encourage each other today in the context of tomorrow.
But…when accolades come, they do feel good. I attended the Florida Christians Writer’s Conference a few weeks ago and submitted a few entries to the SonShine Awards. To my surprise, they won Second, Third, and Honorable Mention!
Suspended was the Honorable Mention, and I’m thrilled they recognized its potential. Years ago, I had publisher after publisher at this same conference reject my manuscript. Taking a step back, I realized the risk of publishing a book where the author might die before publication.
Yet, I continued to live, and others told me their stories. In the meantime, Kindle Direct Press matured and offered new services. One by one, I lost my excuses not to publish while gaining a passion for getting it out.
If I could help just one person embrace their illness and live a more fulfilled life, wouldn’t it be worth it?
And now it’s here! Not only did it arrive, but the award blessed it – the cherry on top! It was the top new release its first week on Amazon and continues to place in its category.
Thank you to all who have supported me through the journey. I’d love to hear from you.
Your passion to encourage and help others on their cancer journey is one driven by your experience but also the strength and resilience the Lord has gifted you on this path. I’m so thrilled you won awards, but more thrilled that people are seeing this and buying it. It reflects the hope of Jesus amid trials. Well done, Mags!
Thank you, Dayle. You are an inspiration to me with your writing!
